Francis ‘Peggy’ Pegahmagabow

Today, I came across a display in a Saskatoon shopping mall that I found interesting. I’ve heard of other Great War snipers, virtually all of which were aboriginal, but haven’t heard this name before.

Surprising, since it appears he was the king of snipers in that war. The display had medals and examples of military uniforms.

The story mentions the ‘Ross’ rifle. I remember hearing that the Ross was precision-made. So much so that it was all but useless in the muddy battlefields of the day. It seems to have been suited to sniping, though.
