I read somewhere that history is written by the victors. I’m looking at this book review

and thinking that it quite likely goes against this conventional wisdom.
Book by the same author: I once read ‘Sam Steele: Lion of the Frontier’, also by Robert Stewart. I found it very well written and a detailed account of the absolutely astounding life of Sam Steele.
Additional read: ‘Loyal till Death’ by Blair Stonechild and Bill Waiser. This was a fascinating account of First Nations involvement (or not) in the Riel Rebellion of 1885. It’s been a while since I read it. If I remember correctly, it’s a bit dry, but well worth the time for anyone who wants to plough through it.
