Some of you may recall the posting I did on ‘Outlier’ by Garrett Wilson. Wilson debunks the tale spun by John Diefenbaker whereby, while peddling newspapers, he had a rather lengthy interaction with Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier.
I really don’t have a horse in this race, though I can’t disagree with Wilson’s position. With lawyerly precision, he dismantles Dief’s story one brick at a time. Since I read his book, I still smile each time I walk by that statue.
It seems that Garrett Wilson, a crusty old-stock Liberal (though he’d probably take exception to being called one), is demanding that the statue be removed. More on the story here:
