Glen C. Larson – The Boys from Balcarres

In April of 1917, Edwin and Edison Greenhow of Balcarres, Saskatchewan, fell on Vimy Ridge in France.  The upcoming centennial commemoration of the battle of Vimy Ridge provided the impetus for me to buckle down and finally write a novella telling their story.  The story is told from the perspective of my grandfather, Charlie Greenhough, who was much younger than his brothers.

In the course of my research, I was privileged to make the acquaintance of Gordon Michayluk of Balcarres, and I was surprised to find that he was spearheading the production of a promotional video commissioned by the Town of Balcarres and the Balcarres Legion.  The video is produced by Sheldon Boyarski of Ituna, Sk.

We will be posting the novella and the video as a free offering at precisely 9:30 PM Saskatchewan time on April 8, 2017.  This is 5:30 AM Vimy time, which is exactly one hundred years after the first Canadians went over the top and onto the battlefield.
